18. What are the benefits for producers to participate in Locate In 48?
The driving benefit of this program is disease control. If livestock owners can be quickly notified of an outbreak, the losses that you may suffer from animal disease will be minimized.
The program will also help increase consumer confidence in Oklahoma’s food supply. Because animal disease outbreaks can be quickly contained and eradicated through the Locate In 48 program, domestic foodstuffs will be more protected from the threat of disease.
Another benefit will be the continued ability to compete in the global marketplace. Buyers worldwide, including some domestic customers, are beginning to demand disease traceability.
